Introduction
WinGDB is an extension for Visual Studio allowing to develop programs with GNU tools.
Primarily WinGDB focus were targeted on debugging with GDB (hence the name). Debugging is still the most important functionality. But WinGDB is continously evolving into more versatile tool, helping also in other development stages, like building and deploying.
There are two WinGDB variants: for GNU tool suite running remotely (on a Linux machine) and locally (MinGW, Cygwin, cross compiling).
WinGDB for remote Linux debugging
Allows debugging on remote machines running Linux (or other Unix systems).
WinGDB for Windows
Allows debugging programs with GDB for Windows. This covers many debugging scenarios. Among others, there are:
Embedded Linux systems.
Palm webOS mobile devices.
Other Linux-based mobile devices.
Embedded bare-metal devices, through OpenOCD.
Windows applications developed in MinGW or Cygwin environments.
2011.01.17 - WinGDB 1.9
